  • Ensuring an Exceptional Faculty

Recruiting and retaining a world-class faculty is the single most important priority for the School of Pharmacy. A strong faculty raises the caliber of education, research and expertise available at Wisconsin and to the community. Competitive salaries, guaranteed support for research activities, a solid research infrastructure, a superior intellectual climate, and a welcoming and inclusive learning and working environment are all required features.

Private gifts to endow faculty scholars, chairs, or distinguished chairs will significantly strengthen the School's ability to recruit and retain world-class educators, researchers, and scholars into the future.

  • Supporting Graduate (MS/PhD) Students

Graduate student at work Graduate students are the inspirational core upon which a research university flourishes. These are highly motivated students working with faculty to collaborate on groundbreaking research. These advanced students work with faculty in the pharmaceutical, social, and clinical sciences of pharmacy. They also add to the breadth and depth of classroom and laboratory education for our PharmD students as teaching assistants. And they represent tomorrow's faculty, research scientists, professionals, and leaders.

Private gifts to endow graduate fellowships will ensure that the School of Pharmacy will have the ability to compete for the most talented candidates into the future.

  • Supporting Professional (PharmD) Students

Educating the pharmacy workforce of the future is another key responsibility of the School. In-state tuition for a pharmacy education is now over $11,000 annually, and recent tuition increases have been sharp and rapid. Access to higher education, including UW, is more and more restricted to higher income families. This is a particular problem for historically under-represented groups and low-income families from the inner city or rural areas. We must ensure access by qualified students regardless of socioeconomic status by dramatically increasing the scholarship support for our PharmD students.

Private gifts to endow PharmD student scholarships will ensure broader access and strengthen and diversify the pharmacy workforce of the future.

  • Maintaining State-of-the-Art Facilities

Lingjun Li's lab   As we raise the standards of our academic and scientific programs, we need to continually improve and enhance our facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. Our plans include relocating and consolidating the School's administrative offices, upgrading and remodeling laboratory and student study space, purchasing critical teaching and research equipment, and making environmental and aesthetic enhancements in and around Rennebohm Hall. These changes will provide required infrastructure, enhance the School's climate, and provide a welcoming environment for all our students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

Private gifts designated for facilities, equipment, or infrastructure improvements will ensure the quality of these critical features that support all aspects of our academic mission.

  • Advancing Special Initiatives and Programs

To prepare for a strong future, we need to build the School's base of permanent support for targeted research and educational programs that emerge in response to the rapid changes taking place in today's scientific and health care marketplace. Current special program initiatives at the School include:

  • Lenor Zeeh Pharmaceutical Experiment Station
  • Pharmacy Practice Research Initiative
  • Sonderegger Research Center
  • School of Pharmacy Dean's Priority Fund

Private gifts to build these existing funds will be a direct investment in advancing strategic initiatives that employ the intellectual resources and expertise of faculty to improve the health and well being of people everywhere.
