Continuing education in pharmacy has two major objectives: (1) maintaining professional competency, and (2) educating for the changing role of pharmacists in today's society. With these two objectives in mind, one must continue to offer new courses as the need arises and in a manner that is conducive to learning and agreeable to the participant.
Our research deals with pharmacists' attitudes and goals relating to continuing education. We have been in the leadership role in developing audiocassettes, videocassettes, and computer aided instruction and in evaluating the knowledge gained by participants in continuing education programs.
