As I have the opportunity to get to know more of our alumni, your commitment and dedication to the School become more and more evident. You partner with the School in so many ways, giving of your time, energy, and dollars, all with a common and singular goal: to make the School of Pharmacy the best it can possibly be.
As one example, several alumni partnered with the School during the process of reaccreditation of our PharmD program. We've almost completed the process. A national evaluation team visited the School in April to validate our extensive self-study and collect information from individuals and groups of all types. The visit and the evaluation team report were positive and supportive, commending the School on many areas of excellence, while suggesting several features that need improvement. The Board of Directors of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) met in late June to formally determine our accreditation status, and I expect to receive their decision any time. As mentioned in the last edition of Pharmacy Graduate, the extensive self-study that was a key element of the process is available on CD, and I would be more than happy to share it with you. One area that received special recognition and commendation was the experiential education portion of our curriculum. Special thanks for our many alumni who partner with the School as clinical instructors and ensure an incredible breadth of experiences and a depth of learning that is truly noteworthy. We simply couldn't do it without you.
Our alumni partner with the School in other important ways as well. We've recently added three alumni members to our PharmD Admissions Committee, for example, which brings diverse perspectives and experience to the admissions process. Many of you participated in the new interview phase of admissions this year as well. There are also alumni members on our Awards and Citations Committee and our 125th Anniversary Working Group. My sincere thanks to all the alumni who have partnered with the School in this manner. Expanded opportunities to come!
My visits around the state have been a terrific opportunity for me to connect with alumni and thank you all for your valuable partnership with the School. Many thanks to the "point people" who made these visits possible by coordinating local arrangements in Milwaukee, Wausau, Green Bay, Eau Claire and LaCrosse. Next up is Bayfield. Thanks also to all of you who took the time to attend and expand and enhance our existing partnership. We'll see you all again on my next circuit around the state!
So thanks for all you do as valuable alumni of this great School of Pharmacy¡¦for your commitment to excellence as clinical instructors, for your service as committee members and mentors, for your participation at the recent golf tournament in support of the PAA scholarship fund, for your consideration of the School in your philanthropic interests. I look forward to seeing many of you at our fall alumni weekend and football game vs. Penn State. Drop me a line anytime... On Wisconsin!
