Registration for the School of Pharmacy Discovery Day scheduled for February 9, 2008 has been closed. We are no longer accepting registrations.
About the Program: The program is especially designed for college students interested in learning more about the School of Pharmacy degree programs and for those who have applied or plan to apply for enrollment in the School in the future. The Discovery Day will take place in Rennebohm Hall, the pharmacy building on the western edge of the UW-Madison campus.
This day-long program will highlight the School of Pharmacy’s two degree programs: 1) the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, which prepares students for licensure as pharmacists; and 2) the B.S. Pharmacology/Toxicology program, an undergraduate degree, which provides a strong academic background for careers in the pharmaceutical industry or government agencies, for admission to a graduate program in the pharmaceutical sciences, or for entry into professional schools such as medicine, dentistry, or law. The Discovery Day will also highlight the career diversity and flexibility which these degrees provide, and the excitement and challenges occurring in both pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences research. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and talk with School of Pharmacy academic advisors, faculty, and students. Both a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to all Discovery Day registrants and guests.
Program Information: Registration will take place from 8:30-9:00 AM, at which time a light continental breakfast will be available. The morning program will begin at 9:00, and will consist of a general introduction to the School, presentations on the curriculum and career options in the Doctor of Pharmacy and B.S. Pharmacology/Toxicology programs; the status of the current pharmacist job market will also be addressed.
Lunch will be available in the building, served in three shifts between approximately NOON and 2:00 PM.
The afternoon program will consist of a series of breakout sessions. You will choose the sessions you wish to attend. You may look over the list before registering here. Every attempt will be made to assign you to your breakout preferences, but because of space limitations, this may not be possible in all cases. To gain more information, each visiting student and their parent/guest are encouraged to sign up for different sessions. Each student and parent/guest will have the opportunity to attend a maximum of three break-out sessions during the afternoon. The program is expected to conclude between 2:15 and 2:45 PM. Self-led tours of the second floor of the School of Pharmacy building, Rennebohm Hall, are optional, and will be offered from approximately 2:30-3:15 PM; you may indicate your interest in participating in a tour on the registration form.
If you have questions about the program, please contact the Student & Academic Affairs Office at (608) 262-6234.
