Registration for the School of Pharmacy Discovery Day scheduled for February 9, 2008 has been closed. We are no longer accepting registrations.
Dear Pre-School of Pharmacy or Other Interested Student:
I write to extend an invitation to you to attend our School of Pharmacy Discovery Day on Saturday, February 9, 2008. The program is especially designed for college students interested in learning more about the School of Pharmacy degree programs and for those who have applied or plan to apply for enrollment in the School in the future. The Discovery Day will take place in Rennebohm Hall, the pharmacy building on the western edge of the UW-Madison campus. Please find the registration form link on the side navigation bar.
This day-long program will highlight the School of Pharmacy's two degree programs: 1) the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, which prepares students for licensure as pharmacists; and 2) the B.S. Pharmacology/Toxicology program, an undergraduate degree, which provides a strong academic background for careers in the pharmaceutical industry or government agencies, for admission to a graduate program in the pharmaceutical sciences, or for entry into professional schools such as medicine, dentistry, or law. The Discovery Day will also highlight the career diversity and flexibility which these degrees provide, and the excitement and challenges occurring in both pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences research. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and talk with School of Pharmacy academic advisors, faculty, and students. Both a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to all Discovery Day registrants and guests.
REGISTRATION: Advance registration is required for all attending. A parent, spouse, or other guest is welcome to attend the Discovery Day with you. Because space is very limited, and in order to accommodate as many students as possible, we ask that each student registrant be accompanied by no more than one parent/guest. To assist us in covering the costs of the breakfast, lunch, and the various handouts that are provided at the event, a $15 per person registration fee must accompany your online registration form. The registration fee must be mailed to Discovery Day, Student and Academic Affairs Office, School of Pharmacy, UW-Madison, 777 Highland Avenue, Madison WI 53705-2222. The deadline for registration is February 4, 2008. Last year we received more registrations than we were able to accommodate; should this occur, we will accept registrants on a first-come, first-served basis, until all available spaces have been filled. Therefore, I urge you to submit your online registration form early. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your registration upon receipt of your form and payment. Refunds will be given for cancellations made (by phone at (608) 262-6234 or by email) on or before February 1, 2008. No refunds will be given for cancellations after that date.
PARKING: Parking will be available, at no charge, in University parking lots 60 and 76 near Rennebohm Hall. No parking permit is required in these lots on weekends. A description of the location of Rennebohm Hall, and of these suggested parking lots, will be included with the confirmation email that we will send.
CAMPUS TOURS:UW-Madison campus tours are not part of the School of Pharmacy Discovery Day. The UW-Madison Campus Information Center provides hundred-minute walking tours of campus to interested students and guests. You will need to arrange your own transportation to and from Madison, and your accommodations if you plan to stay overnight.
