Graduates qualify for employment as:
The B.S. in Pharmacology & Toxicology degree provides a biomedical background to students preparing for admission to schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. The degree also affords a strong foundation for graduate work leading to a Ph.D. in most biomedical fields such as Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Oncology, or Molecular Biology. Alternatively, students may consider obtaining a degree in Epidemiology or Law, leading to a career in risk assessment or environmental and occupational policy-making, with respect to hazardous substances.
A 2003 survey of recent alumni revealed employment in diverse and challenging areas including medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, research toxicology, academia, law, and orthodontia/dentistry, among others. Over 80% of alumni survey respondents had completed or were presently enrolled in a graduate or professional school program, including doctoral and MD/PhD programs, medical, dental, pharmacy, and veterinary science programs.
There are many recent Pharamcology and Toxicology alunmi who are willing to talk to potential applicants to the Pharmacology-Toxicology program regarding careers and academic pathways that are available to graduates of the program.
