Adam Nickel - Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training

Adam NickelAn avid runner, Adam was training to run in the San Diego Marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training (TNT) program in honor of his grandmother. Adam’s dedication to this effort was clear as he was among the first members of the Madison TNT to raise the $3,800 goal and shared his success with friends in email the day prior to the Little Rock event.

Beyond Adam’s passion for running, his participation in the Team in Training program was driven by the organization’s mission. He sought information so he could share facts about the diseases and research with others. He wanted everyone to know what each dollar went toward and was very proud of each $1 he raised. Adam was aware that his fellow students had limited resources and set a goal of raising $5 from each student. At home, his mom helped with the fund raising by engaging friends and the community. Adam’s drive, compassion and love for life was contagious.

To honor Adam's memory, classmate Sarah Balzar will be running in the Chicago Marathon in October in conjunction with the WI Team in Training Program, and donations to the cause that Adam was so committed to are still possible by supporting Sarah.
